Silk Reverie · M Culture Creative Journey
May 22, 2025
The public welfare initiative “Silk Reverie · M Culture Dunhuang Creative Journey,” jointly launched by Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality and the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, was officially inaugurated at MGM Reserve Zhuhai. As the third installment of M Culture philanthropy campaign, this year’s program is held with special support from Dunhuang Academy, GDPAFFC, and GPAFFC. Centered on Dunhuang culture, the initiative seeks to reinterpret the thousand-year-old Silk Road civilization through a contemporary artistic lens, promoting the revitalization of Chinese traditional culture and advancing international cultural exchange.

M Culture Artist of the Year 2025 Iris Scott and her team will travel to Dunhuang to immerse themselves in the region’s cave art and ancient Silk Road heritage. Drawing inspiration from this journey, she will create new works of art that capture the beauty of Dunhuang. Her exploration and creative process will be documented into a short film, which will be released across major Chinese media platforms and her personal social media, offering global audiences a unique perspective on the cultural allure of Dunhuang.

Iris Scott
M Culture Artist of the Year 2025
Iris Scott, an artist from New York, USA, transcends the barrier between paint and canvas through her revolutionary finger-painting technique. Dipping her fingers directly into oil paints, she layers pigments onto the canvas to create dynamic textures and a unique sense of movement. This tactile approach not only imbues her works with vitality but also achieves a harmonious fusion between medium and touch, described as "feeling the breath of colors" – an innovation that has earned her the title of "Fingertip Impressionist."
Represented by Filo Sofi Arts, Scott gained significant recognition through her 2019 solo exhibition Ritual in Pairing in Chelsea, which received critical acclaim from Jerry Saltz and was featured in prominent publications including New York Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, and Artnet.
